Document Description
CDFW is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the Project applicant, MPWMD. The Project consists of the modification of instream riffles in the Carmel River in during low flow conditions to facilitate the passage of migrating, adult steelhead (Oncorhynchus mykiss). The Project is limited to modification of up to 20 critical riffles per year, using hand tools, by digging a trench no more than 2 feet wide, 1-foot deep, and 10 feet long. Critical riffles are defined as those whose crests do not contain at least 3 contiguous feet of flow that is at least 0.6 feet deep. The work will only be completed between December 1 and June 1, when flows of the Carmel River are less than 75 cubic feet per second, as measured at the Highway 1 Bridge gage.
