Document Description
Pumped Storage Upper Reservoir: The proposed project would include a new upper reservoir located within the Cleveland National Forest in the mountains above Lake Elsinore. One proposed location for the upper reservoir would be in Morrell Canyon and the other in Decker Canyon. The reservoir would be approximately 100 acres in surface area and be able to hold roughly 5,500 acre-feet of water. Pumped Storage Powerhouse: Three potential powerhouse locations have been identified for the proposed project, referred to as the Ortega Oaks, Santa Rosa and Evergreen Sites. The powerhouse will be located underground in close proximity to Lake Elsinore and will contain two or more reversible pump-turbine units. The size of the site wil be less than 100 acres. Pumped Storage Water Conduits: The proposed project includes underground high-head and lowhead water conduits, which will connect the upper reservoir to the powerhouse and Lake Elsinore below, and channel water between the upper reservoir and Lake Elsinore during the project's operation. TE/VS Interconnect: This portion of the project would consist of an approximately30-mile overhead 500kV electrical transmission line interconnecting SDG&E's existing Talega-Escondido 230-kV transission line in western Riverside County.
