Document Description
The purpose of this project is to change the habits of a large segment of the agricultural community by demonstrating that modifying management practices can significantly reduce the discharge of pesticides into surface waters, thus reducing impairments in Calleguas Creek. This will be done in a number of steps: 1) develop baseline data on current agricultural discharges; 2) implement management practices aimed at pesticides of concern in crop acreages that span different crop types and geographic locations; 3) retest discharges to measure effectiveness and offer proof that discharges can be reduced; and 4) market the results through education and farm organizations' peer advising to reach the widest audience and provide leadership for BMP implementation within the agricultural community in general.
