The project is the extension of Union Valley Parkway west over a 2.6-kilometer (1.6-mile) segment between Hummel Drive on the east and Blosser Road on the west, and the extension of Union Valley Parkway east to intersect with State Route 101 by constructing an overcrossing with north- and southbound freeway ramps. A City of Santa Maria General Plan Circulation Element Amendment to terminate the planned future extension of Union Valley Parkway west of Blosser Road to Highway 1, will be considered with the roadway and interchange project. The EIR is combined with an Environmental Assessment (EA), pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), for which Caltrans District 5 is the lead agency.
