The proposed project includes the expansion, redevelopment, and construction of marine container terminal facilities on 142 acres of backlands. The terminal would be developed by LAHD in three phases of construction, Phase I (completed in 2003 with operations starting in 2004), Phase II, and Phase III, with estimated completion dates of 2011 and 2012, respectively. The terminal would operate over a 40-year lease (2005 to 2045).
