Document Description
Enhance approximately four acres of sensitive coastal dune habitat within Goat Rock Beach at Sonoma Coast State Beach to support and protect endangered native plant species. Eradicate exotic, invasive vegetation including European beach grass, ice plant, myoperum, and Monterey cypress with a combination of hand tools, mechanized equipment, and herbicide (trade name "Round-up"). Burn cypress cuttings in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines. Construct linear transects within dune area to facilitate monitoring of native vegetation. Install interpretive display providing information to visitors about the dune's unique and fragile habitat. Project supports ongoing resource management activities and interpretive programs.
