Document Description
This project constitutes a minor amendment to an ITP DFG issued Caltrans in connection with the project in December 2008. Caltrans' underlying project subject to the ITP and this minor amendment involves construction two new lanes and a median to widen SR 46 into a 4 lane expressway. The project also includes the installation of 4 new traffic signals and the upgrade of existing intersections to conform to cureent design standards. The project will result in impacts to 543 acres of San Joaquin kit fox habitat, as well as 124 acres of potential habitat for San Joaquin antelope squirrel and giant kangaroo rat. The San joaquin kit fox and San Joaquin antelope squirrel are designated Threatened and the giant kangaroo rat is Endangered species under the California Endangered Species Act (CESA).
