Document Description
Pavement rehabilitation and minor improvements at the Lake Almanor Safety Roadside Area (SRRA) on State Route 36 in Plumas County. The project includes grinding the existing asphalt concrete (AC) pavement and replacing it with new AC. The AC grindings will be temporarily stockpiled on the south side of the highway at post mile 15.5 for use as sholder backing by Maintenance crews. The temporary storckpile area is routinely used by maintenance for stockpiling materials. The paved area within the rest area will be widened approximately 1.5 meter at the east end of the facility to improve the turning radius for large trucks and RV's. Broken and damaged concrete curb and gutter will be replace. The propane tank and fence will be repositioned to provide additional clearance for vehicles. Above ground water faucets adjacent to the paved area will be replaced with gound level enclosures. Parking bumpers and handicap parking space signs will be installed. Drainage inlet grates will be replaced with bicycle friendly gates. A white stripe will be added to the pavement within the facility to assist truck drivers in tracking turns. Additional work to be completed by the Chester Maintenance crew includes relocating the east bound "Rest Area" sign farther to the west and a new entrance gate will be fabridcated and installed.
