Document Description
Project activites include installing an approximately 124-foot long and 23-foot wide retrofitted single leaf rolling bascule bridge over the Petaluma River. Five new support piers will be constructed along with a new operator house. New a new fender system will be installed to protect the piers from vessel collision. The Project will impact longfin smelt (Spirinchus thaleichthys) from hydroacoustic impacts associated with pile driving. Additional impact may occur from inadvertent frac-out of drilling slurry during horizontal directional drilling under the Petaluma River. The project is expected to result in incidental take of Longfin smelt, which is designated as a threatended species under CESA. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
