Document Description
This burn dump (Facility No. 15-CR-0027) is a 39 acre site operated from 1959 to 1972 by Kern County for disposal of local waste. There are limited records of the facility operation, but there are sampling and testing reports that indicate location of several trenches where wastes were deposited and burned. The northeastern third of the property was used as a borrow pit, with excavation to a depth of approximately 35 feet.
Proposed site remediation includes removal and disposal of illegally dumped materials, recycling of these materials where possible, excavation of burn ash and contaminated soils with a minimum of four feet of clean soil, then regrading the site.
