Document Description
Removal of rockslide (700,000 tons) from north side of San Diego River by creating a ledge at the west face and proceeding east to the end of rock slide. Rockslide from quarry operations has fallen into the San Diego River floodplain and has constricted river channel, thereby affecting river hydaulics; rock slide unstable as rock continues to fall into river. River flows during storm event could be magnified by constriction and could jeopardize the integrity of the 42-inch diameter sewer line in the river bottom. The sewerage flows are approximately 19 million gallons per day and in the event of a sewer spill could cause a significant amount of sewage to reach open waters, posing a threat to public health and safety.
