Document Description
a) Repair/reconstruct existing drainage facilities; install new subsurface drainage, including drain planes, french drains, and weep pipes; install new culverts and overside drains; and construct earth and lined drain channels to correct existing drainage problems and decrease future road failures and erosion. b) Excavate existing roadway in areas of existing or impending instability until reaching soil suitable to support reconstruction (up to fifteen feet in depth); replace excavated soil with imported fill, to match existing grade; and repave repaired section of roadway with asphalt concrete. c) Install a retaining earth system in areas of roadway that would require excavation deeper than 15 feet or extending outside existing road easement. Stitch piers, driven to a specified depth, will be installed, with the top of the pier extending no more than six inches above the existing road grade. Once the retaining earth system is in place, damaged areas of adjacent roadway will be repaired and/or resurfaced as indicated in (b) above.
