Document Description
This proposed project involves the construction of radio communication repeaters on top of Sourdough Hill on National Forest System lands. The site will house the communication repeaters for SMUD Hydro Operations, U.S. Forest Service and the Placer County Sheriff's Department. The selected design solution will house all stations and associated interface devices in a common equipment enclosure on the southwest slope of the hilltop. All electronics will be powered from a photovoltaic array mounted above the enclosure. A shared transmit antenna and a shared receive antenna will be mounted in an existing tree on the hilltop. Antenna cables will be routed in underground conduits between the tree and the enclosure. Specific locations have been selected for the enclosure and antennas to minimize their visibility from common site access roads and trails. Construction is scheduled for two months during the summer of 2002.
