Present Land Use
The General Plan designation for the proposed project site is Rural Residential/Urban. The land use on the site is currently under a water treatment plant use. This land use would not change under the proposed project.
Document Description
Settled solids from sedimentation basins at the SJWD plant are pumped directly to these sludgehandling facilities. Space on the site is limited and it has been a labor-intensive operation to constantly spread and move around sludge to handle production requirements. Mechanical dewatering facilities (belt filter presses) are recommended at the existing water treatment plant site to alleviate these difficulties. The proposed project consists of a new solids handling facility that will consist of sludge thickeners, belt filter presses, a chemical feed system, and return water pumps.
