Document Description
The purpose of the Project is to enlarge the remaining undersized segments of the Town's Crystal Springs/El Cerrito Sewer Trunk. The Project will expand flow capacity of the sewer trunk by removing and replacing 12,530 linear feet of pipeline, reconnect laterals, connect other existing mains to the new pipeline, and abandon some older lines in place. Construction will be done by open trenching, with trench widths ranging from 18 to 40 inches. Some portions of the collection system, upper and lower laterals, are in poor condition and allow a substantial amount of inflow and infiltration during storm events, overloading the system's hydraulic capacity. The Project will also entail trench stabilization at four locations along the east side of El Cerrito Avenue, to increase the structural stability of the road shoulder, prevent the loss of stream bank vegetation, and reduce sediment loads to the San Mateo Creek.
