Document Description
Construct shaded fuelbreak areas behind and between homes and in designated open space zones throughout the Brooktrails subdivision, encompassing 4,943 acres. Practice components of the shaded fuelbreak are restricted to pruning existing trees 10-12 feet up the base to remove fuel "ladders", thinning trees where crowns are touching, reducing vegetation fuel height to 30 inches, and manual removal of flammable shrubs, such as chemise and broom. Ornamentals and special landscaping features will be protected. No ground will be disturbed. Most of the slash from the project will be chipped and spread. Slash may be piled and burned where access is limited.
