Document Description
The Operator proposes to alter the streambed and bank by carefully harvesting 100 individual plant plugs of cord grass from 100 different locations within the Los Cerritos Wetland Marsh Area. In addition, tip cuttings of seepweed and western marsh-rosemary shall be harvested. The harvesting of these native species will be used for a local salt water wetland restoration project known as the Jack Dunster Marine Biological Reserve Development Project. The planting of local native stock ensures the introduction of locally adapted genotypes and will avoid the breakup of co-adapted traits. The harvest would be completed by the end of January (prior to nesting season) and shall be done by boat as to not disturb wildlife in the area and reduce trampling of vegetation. All removal sites shall be photographed and monitored to show that the proposed project shall not impact the existing salt marsh vegetation.
