Document Description
The new elementary school will be designed to provide for 864 two-semester seats to accommodate approximately 1,210 students on a year-round basis. In all, the proposed new elementary school will consist of three buildings covering 1.05 acres of the 3.16-acre project site and 71,595 square feet with a maximum height of 47 feet. The site is to be accessible from the main entrance off of New Hampshire Avenue, the surface parking area off of 1st Street, and the service entrance off of New Hampshire Avenue, the surface parking area off of 1st Street, and the service entrance off of Vermont Avenue. A total of 39 classrooms are to be constructed including: 4 kindergarten classrooms, 29 general purpose classrooms, 5 special day classrooms, 1 set aside classroom, and administration/multi-purpose building, and a food service building with a lunch shelter. Two acres of the project site are to be dedicated to a playground area including kindergarten play areas, a turf multi-use athletic field, and play court areas. As part of the proposed project, the existing residences and businesses would be relocated and the alley that bisects the project site would be vacated as it traverses the project area.
