Document Description
UCC Vineyard Group proposes to construct a crossing of Champlin Creek off Stage Gulch Road (Highway 116) near Sonoma, in Sonoma County. The crossing will use a 46-foot long, 14-foot wide Conspan bottomless arch and will include rock slope protection for about 50 feet immediately downstream of the culvert where the stream makes a sharp bend which is currently experiencing substantial erosion. Champlin Creek is a deeply incised seasonal stream with eroding banks and little riparian vegetation. No steelhead trout (Federally Threatened) have been documented in the creek, but there are a few perennial pools in upstream areas which could support a small number of juvenile steelhead in some years. Champlin Creek is within the range of the California red-legged frog (Federally Threatened), but recent surveys conducted for this project found no frogs and no breeding or summer aestivation habitat in the project area. Recent plant surveys found no special status plants in the project area. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement Number R3-2001-0347 pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1603.
