Document Description
Replace existing gravel surface in the Mine Yard at the Empire Mine State Historic Park to provide an even walking surface and improved ADA access. Existing path and roadway alignment will be maintained. Finished surface will retain historic yard elevation. Regrading for ADA access will only occur immediately adjacent to entrance of structures. No historic or character defining spaces, features, or buildings will be altered. Penstock and piping systems beneath surface of mine yard will be traced and documented prior to commencement of work, avoided by heavy equipment or compacting devices. Segments of ore cart rail will not be disturbed or buried. New gravel will match, as much as possible, the crushed ore that originally came from the mine.
