Document Description
Project will replace existing water lines, replace five restroom buildings, and construct one new comfort station at Donner Memorial State Park. Existing water lines, serving the day use picnic areas; various fire hydrants and hose bibs; Split Rock, Ridge, and Creek Campgrounds; and restroom buildings throughout the park, will be replaced within the existing footprint. Service to replacement structures and new China Cove comfort station will lateral from existing lines. Existing combination buildings and comfort stations at both Ridge and Split Rock Campgrounds will be demolished and replaced with new 200 Series combination buildings. Existing 1949 era wood-framed combination building will be demolished and replaced with new 300 Series combination building. The existing building has been documented and has been determined not historically significant or eligible for listing. A new 200 Series comfort station will be constructed at China Cove Campground to replace existing portable outhouses, which are no longer sufficient to meet current demands. Continued use at current levels would result in a serious health and safety issue for park visitors. All work will occur within existing footprints and adjacent, previously disturbed areas, with the exception of the new comfort station at China Cove Campground, to avoid impacting all known archaeological sites. A DPR archeologist will monitor all excavations.
