Document Description
The project proponent is requesting to reactivate its Shamba site and also to extract material from the recently-purchased Piedmont site. The removal of gravel at the Shamba site will consist of hauling approximately 75,000 cubic yards of stockpiled material a distance of about one mile to the project proponent's existing facility and removing a smaller amount of material from the Creek. Work is scheduled to begin in September, 2001 and would be completed by October, 2001. Removal of gravel and other material from the Piedmont site is not expected to begin until July, 2002, and would involve the removal of approximately 15,000 cubic yards of material. The project proponent is currently permitted by the County (Use Permits No. 92-35 and 84-22) to remove up to 180,000 cubic yards of sand and gravel per year at the two sites, 150,000 cubic yards from the Shamba site and 30,000 cubic yards from the Piedmont site; however, these quantities have never been removed. All materials extracted will be processed and stockpiled at the project proponent's existing facility along the creek.
