Document Description
The proposed widening consists of improvements to Commonwealth Avenue from Beach Boulevard to Indiana Avenue. The project involves widening the street from the present width of 84 feet to the ultimate width of 100 feet. The proposed improvements include providing right turns at intersections, parking lanes, and a raised center median. The project also includes curb, gutter, sidewalk, and driveway removal and construction, traffic signal and striping modifications, street light and catch basin relocations, replacement of landscaping, and directional signs. The proposed project will require right-of-way acquisitions on the north and south sides of the street from adjacent properties in order to widen Commonwealth Avenue to designated Primary Arterial standards. The project is intended to improve the operation and traffic flow within the project area and implement the planned roadway improvements per the Primary Arterial designation standards.
