In a phased series of actions known as the Northeast Quadrant Science and Safety (NEQSS) Projects, the University of California plans to: construct two new institutional buildings, the Davis Hall North Replacement Building and Stanley Hall Replacement Buildings, in the northeast quadrant of the main UC Berkeley campus; convert the fourth level in the existing Lower Hearst Parking Structure just north of the main campus from recreation to parking uses; undertake seismic restoration, renovation, and retrofit activities at Cory Hall, Davis Hall South, and the Naval Architecture Building; construct Soda Hall II immediately north of the existing Soda Hall, a project that was evaluated in an earlier EIR certified by the Regents in November 1990 (Computer Science/College of Engineering Building EIR), but has not yet been built; and amend the UC Berkeley 1990 Long Range Development Plan (LRDP), to extend the LRDP envelope for net new space for the Central Campus Park by adding 325,000 gross square feet to accommodate the Stanley Hall Replacement and Davis Hall North Replacement Buildings.
