Document Description
The Department of Water Resources, Flood Projects Maintenance Branch, Sutter Yard, has maintenance responsibility for this flood control channel, which is part of the Federal Flood Control Project in the Chico Streams Group. This 2000 maintenance proposal involves clearing woody vegetation (willows) and debris that is hindering the flood flow capacity of the channel in this location, an activity that has been conducted periodically every 3 to 5 years in the past. This year the work will be done by hand labor in late fall or early winter, when weather conditions allow access without significant soil disturbance. There will be no use of mechanized heavy equipment for this project, nor any in-water work. There will be no significant adverse impacts to endangered species or other fish and wildlife, water qualtiy, nor scenic or historical resources.
