Document Description
Caltrans proposes to repair an embankment on Route 197 in Del Norte County between KP 9.3 (PM 5.8) to KP 9.7 (PM 6.0). The roadway and shoulder at the location of the project have been undermined by slope failure on the riverbank, and corrective action is required to prevent further deterioration and increasing encroachment of the failed area into the traveled way. The project would benefit public highway users. The proposed project would involve placement of 1/2 ton RSP along the bank of the Smith River, extension of two existing cross-culverts to outlet on the RSP, and reconstruction of the pavement and road shoulder. The RSP would have a .15 meter cover of topsoil and would be planted with native vegetation.
