On the north and west sides the adjacent property is vacant federal land managed by the Bureau of Land Management which has a General Plan designation of Public Land (PL) and is zoned Open Space District combined with the Design Review District and the Scenic Highway District (OS-DR-SH). Near the southwest corner of the property is an electrical substation operated by the City of Shasta Lake. To the south there is some vacant federal land and some low density residential development on land which has a General Plan designation of designated Rural Residential B (RB) and zoned Limited Residential combined with Design Review District and the Scenic Highway District (R-L-DR-SH). To the east there is vacant land and low density residential development in the City of Shasta lake.
Document Description
Request for approval of a use permit for a new rock quarry, including crushing and screening facilities and an asphalt plant; and approval of a reclamation plan for regrading, soil replacement and revegetation of the area disturbed by the quarry; on approximately 440 acre parcel. The applicant has requested a permit to operate the quarry and asphalt plant until 2030. The reclaimed land would eventually be used for residential development.
