Document Description
Proposed sampling of submerged sediments upstream and downstream of Seltzer Dam. The primary constituent of concern is mercury. The proposed methods for collecting sediment samples are: excavation by backhoe, coring from a barge, and hand auger. Operation includes the conduction of monitoring of turbidity during coring and backhoe operations, as well as the collection of water samples from Clear Creek for analysis of total mercury during the initial stages of operations in area 1, area 2, and area 3. Samples must be collected during the first day of operations (in each area) while sediment is being disturbed in order to ascertain if sampling operations are releasing mercury from the subsurface.
