Document Description
Wild turkeys are a resident game bird in California (Fish and Game Code Section 3500), and they are currently well established in much of the lower elevation oak woodlands statewide. Most of these occupied habitats are privately owned, offering limited hunting opportunity for the general public. Additional suitable habitat is available on higher elevation public lands that are not currently well occupied by turkeys.
