Document Description
The MSHCP is a comprehensive plan that provides for the assembly and management of a conservation area that protects and manages approximately 747,400 acres of habitat for 27 species pursuant to state and federal laws over the next 75 years. The MSHCP will serve as a habitat conservation plan pursuant to Section 10(a)(1)(B) of the Federal Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended, as well as a Natural Community Conservation Plan under the Natural Community Conservation Plan Act. The MSHCP will be used to allow, through the local land use planning process, the "Take" of the plant and animal species identified in the Plan. Covered Activities would include, but are not limited to, public and private development within the Coachella Valley, maintenance of and safety improvements on existing roads, construction and maintenance of trails and public access facilities, and expansion of certain mining operations.
