Document Description
The University of California, Los Angeles proposes to contruct a new housing complex to accommodate single graduate, professional, and upper division undergraduate students on an approximately 15-acre site in the southwest zone of the campus. The site is generally bounded by Strathmore Avenue on the north, Gayley/Levering Avenues on the east. Weyburn Avenue and the Rehabilitation Building on the south, and Veteran Avenue on the west. The site accommodates the Taper Center, Warren Hall and surface parking lots. The project would provide approximately 2,000 beds and 2,068 parking spaces in three and four story residential buildings above partially below-grade parking structures. The residential complex would also include ancillary facilties such as common areas for social and recreational functions, an exercise facility, space for workshops and other academic related functions, administrative space, a maintenance shop and a small convenience store. The project would be clustered around a large central plaza with smaller courtyards and open areas for student gatherings. Both phases of construction would total approximately one million gross square feet.
