The City is governed by its recently adopted General Plan (December 14, 1999) and its certified Housing Element (June 1997). Currently the City has a population of approximately 32,000 (36,500 at build-out) 144 acres of commercial, 328 acres of industrial, 135 of agricultural-business, 34 acres of office research, 104 acres of public institutional, 47 acres of open space/recreation facilities. Presently 825 acres of vacant and have not received any land use entitlement.
Document Description
This General Plan amendment to the Housing Element is designed to bring the presently certified Housing Element into compliance with the previsions requiring the adoption of an updated Element by June 30, 2000. The proposed draft Housing Element incorporates the recently adopted Regional Housing Needs Assessment prepared by the Southern California Association of Governments and includes an implementation program for the City and its Community Redevelopment Agency to create and maintain affordable housing opportunities in the City consistent with its goals and policies.
