Residential and tourist oriented commercial are the predominant land uses in these small mountain communities, and the zoning and general plan support these uses.
Document Description
The proposed project is aimed at reducing fire hazards associated with the accumulation of brush on vacant parcels lying adjacent to developed ones. Hazardous vegetation will be selectively cleared in order to lessen the impact of wildfires. Light mechanical methods of brush removal will be used. Methods include handwork using chain saws, saws and clippers, line trimmers, and mowers. Vegetation will be either chipped and spread over the site or ground into mulch for garden use, energy production, or disposal. Parcels on approximately 6,728 acres have been identified as potentially needing treatment, but the actual number that will receive treatment in not known. Treatment will be done on an as-needed basis and subjet to available funding. The proposed project does not apply to meadow, wetland, or riparian areas.
