Document Description
Airpower Aviation Resources, Inc. has been contracted to stage the crash of a large aircraft. FAA approval for the operation under an approved movie manual is requested.
The event stimulates the crash of a civilian airliner due to loss of aircraft hydraulic power and subsequent inability of the airliner's pilots to precisely control its flight path. Following the simulated failure, the crash aircraft will issue simulated distress calls to air traffic control and will execute published emergency procedures. The aircraft will divert to a simulated emergency landing field where an attempted landing will result in a crash. Enroute, the crash aircraft will be joined by a simulated military fighter aircraft which will provide assistance and flight following. Fire and rescue personnel in the area are alerted and the destination airports disaster/ mass casualty plan put in action. The simulated airliner's descent will result in impact with ground obstructions. The subsequent conflagration will be used as a actual training exercise for local emergency Fire and Rescue response teams and will be observed by numerous aviation safety organizations.
