The project consists of the following four basic components:
1) Septic System Abandoment; Abandoment of approximately 3,950 existing septic systems which serve nearly 7,800 dwelling units in the Chico Area.
2) Sewer System Construction; Construction of a new sanitary sewer conveyance facilities and connection of 7,800 dwelling unots to the sewer system.
3) Sewer System Operation; Operation of the portion of the new sanitary sewer system which has been added to the existing sewer collection and conveyance system.
4) Oversight of Remaning Systems; Approximately 4,200 units that are affected by the Chico Urban Area Nitrate Copliance Plan are proposed to be monitored for safe and sanitary operation. (This aspect, while part of the overall project description, is not subject of environmental analysis.)
