Document Description
The proposed project consists of renovation of the office building at the California Highway Patrol's (CHP) Willows Area Office, roof replacement, addition of vehicle service bays, and parking lot improvements. The existing office is 6,272 square feet in size, and the project is needed because the Willows Area Office lacks adequate office, locker room, storage, and automotive service space to provide an effective work environment for existing CHP staff. Administrative, operations, and enforcement activities would be able to function more efficiently with increased space for office functions, storage of documents, evidence, and armory, as well as basic maintenance of the CHP vehicle fleet. In addition, the roof leaks and does not have adequate drainage. Currently, the Willows Area Office shares building space with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). DMV is relocating to a new facility, and as a result, 1,680 square feet will become available to CHP for this project. The office renovation would include new roof and HVAC ductwork, as well as interior improvements to expand the locker room, armory, office, and secured storage space. Both interior and exterior lighting would be replaced. Proposed parking lot improvements would replace the existing parking lot chain link fence with a new seven foot block wall, seal coat the lot, and reconfigure the vehicle parking spaces to ADA standards.
