Document Description
The proposed project is the construction of six residence halls (providing bedspaces for approximately 807 students and totaling approximately 124,200 assignable square feet [asf]) and a dining hall/university center (approximately 31, 500 asf) on an approximately 7-acre site on the southern half of the partially developed Colleges Nine and Ten site on the north Santa Cruz campus. The primary objective of the project is to site and construct the proposed residential buildings so that the concept of the residential and academic colleges can be successfully realized. The residence halls would be four or five stories in height and the dining hall would be three stories in height. The project would include construction of service roads, new and improved pedestrian paths, outdoor plazas, a small number of parking spaces, drainage facilities, landscaping, utility connections, and the removal of infrastructure from the modular housing complex currently occupying the site. Access to the College Nine Residence Halls would be provided by the existing College Nine Road and access to the CollegeTen Road. All of the buildings would be constructed on concrete mat reinforced slab foundations, with steel stud frames, wood trusses, and corrugated metal and stucco siding. Stormwater runoff would be directed via closed pipes to the east branch of the Jordan Gulch and the middle of Jordan Gulch.
