Document Description
In October 1999, The City of South San Francisco City Council adopted the South San Francisco General Plan and certified the General Plan Environmental Impact Report (EIR). The Plan presents a long-term, comprehensive plan to help the community understand the issues and find solutions for land use, housing, economic development, transportation, and conservation needs for the various neighborhoods that make up the city.
The General Plan's Transportation Element identifies future transportation and circulation needs for a long-range planning horizon. The Element includes policies, programs, and standards to enhance capacity and provide new linkages to further integrate a multi-modal transportation system. The Element also encourages alternative modes of transit (including bicycle routes and pedestrian amentities) that would help reduce transportation impacts.
