Document Description
The Revised WatsonvilleVISTA 2030 General Plan will replace the Watsonville 2005 General Plan. The original WatsonvilleVISTA 2030 General Plan was prepared to accommodate 5,700 new households and 7,500 new jobs for a total city population of 70,418 residents and 33,635 jobs by the end of the planning period (~2030). This growth would be accommodated through the strategy of infill development in existing urban areas and development on vacant land located within the urban limit line. The Revised WatsonvilleVISTA 2030 General plan will be modified to address the issues raised by the Court. These include, but are not limited to: 1) Modifying the Land Use Plan to reestablish and enhance safety zones around the Watsonville Airport, and integrating the elements of the Caltrans Airport Land Use Planning Handbook into the General Plan 2) Addressing regional transportation issues which will require coordination with other regional agencies, including analyzing cumulative impacts along Highway One 3) Incorporating goals and policies regarding greenhouse gas emissions (consistent with new CA State regulatory requirements).
