Document Description
The John Smith Landfill project involves two major components: the closed Class I and the active Class III landfill. The first component of the project would result in regrading of the closed Class I Area to direct surface drainage around the ultimate footprint of the active Class III landfill. This action requires modification of the Post-Closure Part B permit held by the Department of Toxic Substances Control. The second component of the project involves resolution of inconsistencies in existing documents including final height within current topography, site design, hours of operation, closure and post-closure maintenance, and increasing 'peak' daily tonnage and associated traffic (Permitted average daily tonnage remains at 250 tons per day). Additionally, one or more waste processing/recovery activities may be implemented. These actions require a revision of the Solid Waste Facility Permit held by the California Integrated Waste Management Board.
