Document Description
The City of Menlo Park is preparing an update of its Housing Element to address California Housing Element Law and to pursue local housing objectives. The proposed Housing Element Update identifies sites with the potential for 1,332 additional housing units in the City through June 2006. The sites are identified more specifically in the Initial Study. In order to acccommodate the 1,332 housing units, some of the proposed sites would require a change in zoning either to allow residential uses where residential uses are not currently allowed or to allow an increase in the maximum allowable residential density, as measured by dwelling units per acre. Additionally, modifications to existing zoning laws would be required to increase the potential for the development of secondary dwellings units. No specific construction project is proposed at this time, but this EIR may be used as part of subsequent environmental review for some of the proposed sites.
