Antelope Valley Public Landfill I consists of approximately 65 acres on the eastern portion of the site with 65-acres approved for landfill operations under Solid Waste Facilities Permit (SWFP) No. 19-AA-0009. Of these 65 acres, 57 acres are approved for disposal of refuse under the SWFP Permit. The remaining 7 acres is used for offices and hauling company operations ancillary to the approved landfill. The landfill has served the Antelope Valley since the 1950s and has a remaining life of approximately 2 years. Immediately adjacent and to the west is a 98-acre area comprising the Antelope Valley Public Landfill II, previously located in the unincorporated portion of the County and annexed into the City of Palmdale as of November 21, 2003. A Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for Landfill II was granted by the Regional Planning Commission, County of Los Angeles on April 8, 1992. An amendment to the CUP was approved on December 1, 1993.
