Description

Certification rulemaking to amend the California Appliance Efficiency Regulations to make permanent emergency amendments previously adopted on March 8, 2017. The amendments add a definition for permanent magnet synchronous motors and allow permanent magnet sysnchronous motors as a permissible motor construction type for residential pool pump and motor combinations and replacement residential pool pump motors. The regulations also delay the date by when residential air filters for use in forced-air heating or forced-air cooling equipment must comply with the regulations. These changes are necessary to ensure the compliant products anad to allow the public's access to affordable and equally efficient pool pump and motor sets that include permanent magnet synchronous motors.
