DGS is proposing that a PV carport system be installed above an existing parking area located at Mule Creek State Prison to help offset energy demands of the prison. The proposed project will include the construction of a single-story, 12-ft PV carport canopies above existing parking areas. The canopy will include approx 7,716 PV solar panels and will cover approx 135,916 sf of the existing 406,023 sf parking area. Each PV carport canopy will have a max rectangular distance of 40 ft by 150 ft. Each PV carport canopy will be arranged with a 10-ft gap between modules and a tilt of 12 degrees. The project will have a direct current system size of 2,623 KW and an alternating current system size of 2,080 KW. Additional project features include associated power equipment and lighting. The proposed project is compliant with title 19, public safety state fire marshall regulations. No existing fire lanes shall be impeded.
