Document Description
The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) as the lead agency will be issuing a water supply permit. The east Inyokern Mutual Water Company will drill Well 4 to replace Well 2, a 50-gallon per minute (gpm), 350-foot well, which collapsed near the same location. Well 4 will pump not more than 55-gpm and will be drilled to a depth of 450 feet. 20-40 feet of 3-inch diameter piping will be installed to connect the well to the current distribution system. Well 2 will be destroyed. This project will provide for the operation of the facilities.

The replacement of well 2 with well 4 is class 2. In that it involves replacement of existing utility structures where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and involving negligible expansion of capacity (<10%, section 15302(c)). The well can also fall under class 3, as it is small new equipment not exceeding 2,500 sq. ft (<125 gpm). the piping to connect the well to the existing system, consists of class 3 water main utility extensions of reasonable length to service small new construction, (,16 inches in diameter, <1 mile in length)
