Document Description
This project will install and operate a small-scale, containerized anaerobic digestion system at the Naval Base Ventura County for producing electricity, heat, and fertilizer from food waste collected within a 7 mile radius. The food waste will be leveraged from existing food recovery and distributions programs, including cafeteria operations at UC Santa Barbara. The anaerobic digestion system will be made modular infrastructure and produce biogas that will then be converted into electricity and heat. The project benefits of this compact, integrated system will be analyzed based on the performance of the pilot unit and extrapolated to estimate the potential of broader statewide adoption.
