Document Description
The USFWS has proposed a habitat restoration project on the Yuba River in the Englebright Dam Reach in order to increase the spawning success and enhance juvenile rearing of the Central Valley spring-run Chinook salmon evolutionarily significant unit. The proposed project would rehabilitate a total of approximately 8.29 acres of river channel and an adjacent alluvial bar for the purpose of improving salmonid spawning and rearing habitat. The restoration approach is to excavate, grade and sort of the alluvial bar and enhance existing in-river topography, while reducing the amount of armoring on the adjacent alluvial bar. The State Lands Commission action is rescission of approval and issuance of a 10-year General Lease - Public Agency Use to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service through Feb. 26, 2028.
