Document Description
The proposed project involves the renovation and reconstruction of the existing 29.07 acre Walnut Park located at 2700 Lilard Drive in South Davis. See attached aerial photo of the subject site and a detailed project description excerpt. The project will include renovation and reconstruction of the existing six-court tennis facility; provision of shade structure over the picnic area; functional and safety improvements to the existing sand volleyball; improvement to bicycle/pedestrian pathway consisting of signage, way-finding and safety features, including ADA complaint; overall park's lighting improvement; fenced dog exercise area; and installation of an "Art and Rain" demonstration garden to promote the concepts of water conservation through turf conversion and garden/planting design, along with inclusion of art, environmental stewardship and community involvement.

Walnut Park is an existing facility in a planned development community governed by South Davis Specific Plan and General Plan. Environmental assessments were done as part of the past applicable General Plan Updates, South Davis Specific Plan, and individual development projects, including the subject subdivision, Oakshade No. 12. The City has determined that the proposed project is exempt pursuant to CEQA Guideline per Section 15301(h) as maintenance of existing landscaping; Section 15302 as reconstruction of existing facility; and Section 15304(B) a new gardening or landscaping.
