Document Description
The SCRRA, operator of Metro link, determined that there is a need to improve passenger and freight train operations in this segment by increasing the speed at CP Soledad. The existing allowable speed on the siding in 20/15 mph (passenger/freight). Improvements includes replacement of turnout, removal and reconstructed spur track, upgrades to the existing non-clearing spur track. With the work performed on the track and turnouts, this speed can be increased to match that of the mainline. With increased demand of freight and passenger trains passing through the corridor, this will help move trains faster through the corridor.
