Document Description
In order to determine the exact loction of the PIM repair site, CPL must conduct a series of verification digs on the pipeline near the repair sites. The verification digs involve the excavation of the pipeline at a minimum of two locations and maximum of four locations within the pipeline easement to visually locate an identifying feature on the pipeline (e.g. joint weld, pipeline bend, pipe pup, etc.). All verification digs are hand excavated (no heavy equipment involved) and, when possible, are sited in upland habitat.
Once the identifying feature is located, the distance can be measured to pinpoint the exact location of the anomaly. Once the exact position of the anomaly is determined, the anomaly is determined, the anomaly will be excavated by hand until the pipeline is located.
